In its continuing effort to invigorate and create more interest towards standard events, and increased participation from the chess community, the Malaysian Chess Federation will continue with the 2nd edition of the most higly anticipated 2nd National Grand Prix Circuits for 2026.
While the total prize fund for the event will be maintained at RM30,000 (with the eventual winner to earn RM10,000), a few changes have been made to attract more players to be a part of this year’s circuit.
Foremost, the number of qualifiers for the Final Round set to be held in January 2027, has been increased to 64 instead of 32 but, the starting prize fund is offered only to players who crossed the initial Round of 64.
Secondly, events are now divided into 4 main categories with varying points offered to the top 32 players of each type of event. Starting with Platinum events for National level competition which offers 480 point, Gold events offering 370 points, Silver events offering 300 points and Bronze/Challenger events offering 200 points.
With a total of at least nineteen (19) events offered by MCF for the 2026 GP Circuit, invitations are also open to State Affiliates and Independent Organizers to organize events that can contribute to the points offering. The first event has already started in January of 2026 and the last event is set for December 2026 with the finals to be held in January 2027

GP Circuit GOLD Events are MCF Office U2400 Office Quarterly Events that are held once every three (3) months.Â

GP Circuit SILVER Events are MCF Office U2400 Office Monthly Events that are held once every month from April to December 2026.Â
The event offeres a total prize fund of RM1,500 with 300 GP points to be earned by the top 32 winnersÂ
